Product Highlight
CleanAmp™ dNTP Sets are now available!
CleanAmp™ dNTPs are the most versatile solution in TriLink’s line of PCR enhancing products. CleanAmp™ dNTPs offer a universal approach to improved Hot Start PCR. Replacement of the standard dNTPs, the essential DNA polymerase substrate, with CleanAmp™ dNTPs, offers the same advantages as more costly Hot Start enzymes. CleanAmp™ dNTPs can be ordered online, by phone or email.
"Using CleanAmp™ dNTPs in your PCR is an interesting way to improve specificity. This novel hot start method is easy to incorporate into any PCR master mix."
-Carl Wittwer, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Pathology at the University of Utah and co-founder of Idaho Technology

Improved Limit of Detection in Real-Time PCR
CleanAmp™ dNTPs provide amplification specificity over a wide range of template concentrations in real-time PCR. In real-time detection, PCR sensitivity can be significantly reduced at lower template concentrations due to predominate primer dimer formation. The results of an experiment, where human genomic DNA, with concentrations ranging from 0.001 ng to 1000 ng, was amplified in real-time PCR is shown below. At concentrations under 0.1 ng, reactions with standard dNTPs failed to amplify the target, while the use of CleanAmp™ dNTPs successfully yielded the desired target at all concentrations. By increasing the limit of detection, CleanAmp™ dNTPs allow more options and fewer restrictions in experimental design for real-time target detection.

Q. How versatile are CleanAmp™ dNTPs?
A. CleanAmp™ dNTPs can be used with a broad selection of DNA polymerases including Taq, Pfu, Pfu (exo-), Dynazyme™, Deep Vent™, Tth and Tfi. We have shown that using CleanAmp™ dNTPs with these polymerases produced the desired amplicon with higher specificity.

Quote of the Day
"The capacity to blunder slightly is the real marvel of DNA. Without this special attribute, we would still be anerobic bacteria and there would be no music."
