Developing Antibodies Using Oligonucleotide-directed Mutagenesis

Commonly used to improve the specific biological function of proteins, oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis has been particularly relevant in monoclonal antibody development, as demonstrated in a recent article by H. Karauzum and colleagues, where the authors not only utilized this technology to develop highly specific and effective antibodies towards Staphylococcal Enterotoxin B (SEB) but, quite interestingly, demonstrated that these antibodies can be produced in a plant expression system.
